Mani Alikhani, DMD, MS, PhD

Dr. Alikhani is Professor and Dean at CTOR Academy, and faculty at Harvard School of Dental Medicine. CTOR, the only center in the world dedicated to Translational Research in Orthodontics, has developed new approaches and technological advances for treatment of skeletal deformities and different types of malocclusion.

Dr Alikhani’s research is funded by national and international foundations, and focus on skeletal form, tooth movement, and bone response to mechanical stimulation. His research has produced several patents such as a micro-osteoperforation device (Propel), a high frequency acceleration appliance (Vpro5), External plates, Robotic Orthodontics and several other innovations. Dr. Alikhani specializes in complex orthodontic treatment for teens and adults.

His clinical approach is to treat severe jaw and dental deformities in patients seeking non-surgical treatment options using advanced biological and mechanical concepts.

Chinapa Sangsuwon, DDS

Dr. Chinapa Sangsuwon is Assistant Professor at CTOR Academy and an active member of the CTOR translational research team for the last decade.

She is an Orthodontist with a background in graphic design and 3D animation. She pioneered the development of innovative education materials in the field of orthodontics.

Her passion for education lead her to co-found a publishing company, CTOR Press, where she serves as CEO.

Dr. Sangsuwon is very active at IADR and has held several executive positions in the Orthodontics Research Group. She has published extensively in different peer review journals and has co-authored several books and chapters in Orthodontics.

Fanar Abdullah, DDS, MS

Dr. Fanar Abdullah, is Assistant Professor at CTOR Academy. She is an orthodontist with a Master’s degree in Bioengineering.

Dr Abdullah’s research focuses on non-surgical treatment of patients with skeletal deformities with special interest on condylar response to mechanical stimulation. Her research has stimulated her to found a company to develop innovations in craniofacial orthopedics.

She has published articles in peer reviewed Journals and has presented at  international and national meetings. Dr. Abdullah has functioned as co-organizer of research presentations for the Orthodontics Research Group at IADR. Dr. Abdullah was recognized with the prestigious Innovation award at the 2022 IADR meeting.

Marcos Giovanetti, DDS, MSc, PhD

Dr. Marcos Giovanetti is Associate Professor at CTOR Academy. He is a specialist and has a PhD in Orthodontics and Dentofacial Orthopedics, and Master degree in TMJ Dysfunction.

He is currently Director of the Department of Orthodontic Research and Nanotechnology at CEOSP Nanotec, and Coordinator of the Post-Graduate Program in Orthodontics at Uninga in Sao Miguel do Oeste at Chapeco, Santa Catarina, Brazil.

Dr. Giovanetti’s research focus is on materials science and his most recent project was to develop an improved aligner treatment system, CTOR Aligners. His passion for translational research goes back to his earliest days in dentistry in 1999 and has distinguished himself by his extensive scholarly publications and mentorship. He is currently president of the Orthodontics Research Group of IADR.

Mona Alikhani, MD, MS

 

Dr. Mona Alikhani is Associate Dean of Student Affairs and Assistant Professor at CTOR Academy. She has a Doctor of Medicine Degree, completed a residency in internal medicine and postdoc training in craniofacial skeletogenesis. In addition, she has a Master’s degree in clinical research.
Currently, she studies bone response to shockwaves in growing and non-growing populations, and secondary cartilage adaptation to mechanical stimulation. Her research supports the possibility of non-surgical orthopedic treatment of patients with craniofacial deformities.

She has published extensively in peer-reviewed journals and functioned as a reviewer for many  peer-review journals. She is a leading force in Medical and Dental education focusing on evidence based education and integrating research in different aspects of CTOR Academy programs.
